SkillsNET® Launches Enterprise Leadership Assessment Tool WAXAHACHIE, TX May 2007 - Today SkillsNET announced the availability of its beta Enterprise Leadership Style Index (LSI) assessment tool. The LSI assessment tool was developed by Dr. Jim Underwood, Dr. Les Carter and the SkillsNET Industrial Psychology Solutions (IPS) team and is an important addition to the SkillsNET Integrated Talent Management System (iTMS). The first consideration in the development of the LSI related to the issue of "transactions." The disigners and industry leaders realized that it would be important to focus on logical reasoned approaches to changing the transactions (a cognitive approach) rather than delving into leaders' deep seated emotions and motivations (a regressive approach). They concluded that the most important aspect of leadership was the actual transactions that occur between individuals. Further, while it is sometimes helpful to understand the deep seated emotions that underlie transactions, the critical aspect of change was the area of transactions. Transactions are the only visible aspects of a relationship that both parties can see. As a result of their investigation, the developers created an assessment that measured the actual transactions between individuals (transactional analysis). At the same time, they used a transactional approach for teaching leaders to coach others in the achievement of real behavioral change. The most important aspect of the LSI is that the assessment and the subsequent coaching that comes out of the assessment is not done by outside consultants (except for limited coaching the coaches training). Instead, each leader in the organization, beginning at the top, is responsible for coaching his or her subordinates. As a result, it is possible to achieve leadership consistency throughout the company. The growing list of LSI beta users include Alcatel-Lucent, Lockeed Martin, FritoLay, and the Guaranty Bank. Dr. John Henderson, Vice President IPS and iTMS Business Development has extended the LSI Beta to include additional organizations. Interested organizations desiring to join the LSI Beta program should contact Dr. Henderson. John.Henderson@skillsnet.com About SkillsNET |
