SkillsNET CEO to Participate During the Global Leadership & Governance of Standards for ICT in Learning, Education & Training

WAXAHACHIE, TX March 2007 -

Date: March 19, 2007
Place: Institute of Education, London
Location: United Kingdom

On March 19, 2007, a one-day open forum on "Global Leadership & Governance of Standards for ICT in Learning, Education & Training" will be held at the Institute of Education, London. This free public meeting will focus on issues related to the future stewardship and governance of International Standards for Learning, Education & Training in general and, in particular, on the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). Plans are underway to transition SCORM?s stewardship from ADL to a more-appropriate international organization over the next year.

The conference is being run in association with the Department for Education and Skills England (DfES), ADL, ISO/IEC JTC1 SC36 (the international standards committee), the British Standards Institution (BSI), the Institute of Education (London), the Schools Interoperability Framework Association and the CEN/ISSS Learning Technologies Workshop. For more information, or to register or submit papers, refer to www.sc36global.org

SCORM and the SCORM community are entering an exciting new phase of internationalization. Through a new, international steward focused on the SCORM vision of sharable content objects, systems interoperability, and open markets for creative teaching and innovative technology, we look forward to continued global adoption and to a bright future for SCORM
