SkillsNET’s Skills Portability Practice Forum submission accepted by SIOP

WAXAHACHIE, TX January 2007 -

SkillsNet’s Industrial Psychology Solutions (IPS) team, the U.S. Navy, and Adaptiqs have been honored with the acceptance of their submission, “Skills Portability Using Online Job Analysis and Automated Assessment Tools”, for the 2007 SIOP conference in New York City.

This joint submission addresses the growing need for organizations to properly align individuals with the right jobs. To accomplish this goal, the authors argue, the process for collecting information about jobs and individuals should be improved. A common framework for collecting this information has been established in SkillsNET’s online job analysis process. This process can be efficiently utilized to capture scientifically rigorous, legally defensible, and contextually rich information directly linked to the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) about an organization’s jobs and workers. By embedding this framework into SkillObject® technology, SkillsNET can conduct gap analyses to identify potential training efficiencies and place individuals into optimum working environments to enhance productivity.

The Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology’s (SIOP) annual conference provides a platform for its members to share knowledge to further the thinking and research in the Industrial-Organizational psychology community. Thousands of submissions are submitted each year, with only a select few being accepted for presentation during the conference.

About SkillsNET
SkillsNET provides a revolutionary tool suite and consulting service, which allows enterprises to rapidly capture work, worker, and workplace skill data elements (SkillObjects®) and their relationship to performance. The SkillsNET methodology allows employers to capture their workforce environment through web-based applications with minimal worker and capital investment. Highly trained Skills Analysts and Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, available on-site or via phone, assist the employee and employer through the data collection process. At the end of the process, employers receive a detailed analysis of the skill base required in their workforce, the level of skill in the current workforce, and the performance standards needed to operate in today's dynamic environment. SkillsNET methodology is aligned with the Department of Labor O*NET taxonomy. For additional information please visit www.skillsnet.com.
