M-I SWACO selects SkillsNET® to design Skills and Competency Framework

WAXAHACHIE, TX January 2007 -

In June 2005, SkillsNET completed an on-line job analysis and survey to define a common list of occupational skills, including tasks, tools, unique knowledge, resources, skills and abilities required for successful job performance in the Drilling Fluids Engineer job within M-I SWACO. “This analysis has allowed M-I SWACO to standardize the titles and bands, providing fairness and equity for their global employees while delivering world-class service for their clients” said Dr. Darrel Sandall, SkillsNET’s Chief Scientist.

With solid groundwork in place, M-I SWACO has now contracted SkillsNET to expand the global skill definition and utilization effort. Information gathered from the initial effort will feed a variety of corporate objectives such as behavioral based interviews, assessing employee proficiencies, locating employees with specific proficiencies needed for work, and assisting in building performance appraisals. These are key components for the support of training development, validation, employee development, strategic planning for organization, career banding and progress. Additionally SkillsNET will begin developing similar job analysis and surveys for M-I SWACO Drilling Waste Management personnel, Project Engineers, and District/Country Managers, as well as provide its Job Profiler software application to assist in development of job descriptions for all jobs within M-I SWACO, and will also provide its Behaviorally-Based Interview tool for use in helping to identify best-fit candidates for its jobs.

About SkillsNET
SkillsNET provides a revolutionary tool suite and consulting service, which allows enterprises to rapidly capture work, worker, and workplace skill data elements (SkillObjects®) and their relationship to performance. The SkillsNET methodology allows employers to capture their workforce environment through web-based applications with minimal worker and capital investment. Highly trained Skills Analysts and Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, available on-site or via phone, assist the employee and employer through the data collection process. At the end of the process, employers receive a detailed analysis of the skill base required in their workforce, the level of skill in the current workforce, and the performance standards needed to operate in today's dynamic environment. SkillsNET methodology is aligned with the Department of Labor O*NET taxonomy. For additional information please visit www.skillsnet.com.
