SkillsNET® Introduces Global Skills Content LibrarySM

WAXAHACHIE, TX January 2007 -

In January 2007 SkillsNET introduced Global Skills Content LibrarySM (GSCL), which represents the largest repository of legacy occupational, skill and competency data available for use by organizations worldwide. As the largest and most comprehensive occupational database in existence, GSCL can be used to identify job information across the spectrum of industry sectors.

Dr. Darrel Sandall, SkillsNET’s Chief Scientist states, “The Global Skills Content Library is a noteworthy step forward for the product that had been previously named the National SkillObjects Library®, and the name change is appropriate and signifies this well. Beyond the addition of data from thousands of employer-generated job profiles, the addition of data about jobs from outside the U.S. and the many other new features make the GSCL even more valuable to employers for their recruiting, staffing, training, employee development, competency modeling and strategic planning needs.”

Through its link to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Information Network (O*NET), the Global Skills Content Library ensures that organizational users are consistent with nationwide standards for describing occupational work. In addition, by linking and supporting other SkillsNET solutions and integrating with O*NET, GSCL enables organizations to jump start workforce development processes.

About SkillsNET
SkillsNET provides a revolutionary tool suite and consulting service, which allows enterprises to rapidly capture work, worker, and workplace skill data elements (SkillObjects®) and their relationship to performance. The SkillsNET methodology allows employers to capture their workforce environment through web-based applications with minimal worker and capital investment. Highly trained Skills Analysts and Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, available on-site or via phone, assist the employee and employer through the data collection process. At the end of the process, employers receive a detailed analysis of the skill base required in their workforce, the level of skill in the current workforce, and the performance standards needed to operate in today's dynamic environment. SkillsNET methodology is aligned with the Department of Labor O*NET taxonomy. For additional information please visit www.skillsnet.com.
